Shape

The Shape tool draws a geometric outline from a single corner-to-corner drag. The drag defines a box; the chosen shape is built inside it and released when the pen lifts.

The outline is not a separate kind of mark. It is stroked with the current brush, taken from the same library the Draw tool uses, so a rectangle drawn with a charcoal brush has charcoal edges. Shape is one of the three paint tools and shows the full Brush Settings panel.

Shape

ShapeSegmentedRectangle

Four icon buttons, with no text labels: line, rectangle, ellipse and polygon. These are the only shapes offered.

Constrain (square / circle)ToggleOff

Squares the drag box, so the rectangle becomes a square, the ellipse a circle, and the polygon regular.

The Shape section carries no side-count control for the polygon.

Unlike Draw, the Shape tool has no Free 3D section — free 3D drawing is available to the Draw tool only.

Brush

The brush controls are the same ones the Draw tool carries, and they change the same brush.

BrushMenuPencil

The brush that strokes the outline, chosen from the library grouped by category. The menu shows a live preview of the current brush's mark.

SizeSlider0.5–100016screen points

The base dab diameter. The scale is logarithmic.

OpacitySlider0.02–10.5

The per-dab alpha ceiling, displayed as a percentage.

Hardness, dynamics and the tip itself live in Brush Settings. See Tip.

Smart Shape

The Shape tool also carries the draw-and-hold controls, so a freehand stroke drawn with this tool can be fitted to a shape without using the Shape picker at all.

Draw and hold to snapCheckboxOn

Enables draw-and-hold fitting. Everything below is hidden when this is off.

Snap to perfectCheckboxOn

Regularizes the fitted shape rather than keeping the drawn proportions. Shown only when Draw and hold to snap is on.

HoldSlider0.2–1.00.4s

How long the pen must be held still before the fit fires.

The fitting behaviour itself — what happens during the hold, the alternatives chip, and reverting to the raw stroke — is documented on QuickShape.

QuickStrip and Sub Tool

The QuickStrip carries Size and Opacity, plus the colour well — the same rail Draw uses, writing the same brush.

The Sub Tool panel shows the paint brush library, so a brush can be chosen there instead of from the Tool Options menu.
